October was another exciting month for the team at ART ON THE MOVE. Here, we share some highlights.
Power and charm in Rubibi / Broome
Learning and Engagement Coordinator Maxxi May travelled to Rubibi / Broome to provide support with the exhibition installation of Talismans: Power and Charm at the town’s historical Sailmaker’s Shed.
Featuring artists Jacky Cheng, Clare Peake, Angela Bakkar, Eva Nargoodah and Vanessa Margetts, the exhibition was presented by Kimberley Arts Network as part of the 2024 Indian Ocean Craft Triennial (IOTA).
It was an absolute pleasure working with the Kimberley Arts Network and the artists to help bring their vision to life!

Galup VR Experience goes to Narrogin
Project Officer Kristen ventured to the Wheatbelt town of Narrogin with the touring exhibition Galup VR Experience. Facilitated by local Noongar artist Ross Storey, Galup VR Experience was shown at Arts Narrogin and Keedac Wheatbelt Aboriginal Corporation, sparking many reflective and insightful discussions about truth-telling and culture.
It was a wonderful few days spent on beautiful Wiilman Noongar Boodjar. A big thank you to the Shire of Narrogin, the Narrogin community, and venue hosts for your warm welcome and participation.

A visit to Malgana Country
Project Officer Kristen and Marketing and Communications Officer Alanna travelled to Gathaagudu / Shark Bay to visit artists Rebecca McCauley and Aaron Claringbold during the second part of their residency with the Shire of Shark Bay.
During the trip, Rebecca and Aaron held an afternoon event at the Denham Town Hall to share their project and work in development. It was a pleasure to be there for the event and celebrate the work produced so far, made in collaboration with the community. We enjoyed catching up with familiar faces like Katie McKay from Shark Bay World Heritage Discovery & Visitor Centre, and local artist Sofie Seyah, as well as meeting lots of new friendly faces from the Shark Bay community!
While on location, the team captured field recordings and community reflections on the residency, which we look forward to sharing in a new podcast series in 2025.
